We have a 3 step approach to cheating detection:

  • We track keystrokes and focus to detect suspicious behavior like copy/paste, switching tabs, leaving the window etc.
  • We run statistical analysis to determine if their solution matches reference solutions or other candidate solutions closely and to determine whether it was written in a natural (human) way.
  • We use contextual information such as how quickly they are able to respond to follow ups asking about specific parts of their code.

We use AWS Cloud for all our cloud infrastructure including storage, which ensures data is encrypted both in transit and at rest. Our services are isolated within VPCs and all external APIs use access controls to ensure data is only accessible to authorized personnel. We use HTTPS for all our endpoints.

We integrate with various third party services, including AI model providers. Data sent to these services is limited to what is strictly required and we never send credentials or sensitive personal identifiers. All requests to these services are made over encrypted channels.

  • Coding questions are written, reviewed, and tested by our team of expert interviewers to ensure consistency.
  • Auto-generated screening questions use frontier models to process the job description and resume. We use a small internal dataset of examples to steer the models towards a standardized question format and difficulty level. Clients can customize the level of variation across interview templates.
  • Evaluations use standardized interview structures hand-crafted by our team. These break evaluations down into structured, multiple-choice questions, and use AI models (internal and external) to assess criteria such as cheating detection, algorithmic approach, soft skills, etc. We use established techniques such as chain-of-thought reasoning and best-of-N sampling to mitigate hallucinations. We regularly benchmark against a proprietary human-labeled dataset to ensure accuracy.
